Nobuo Takase Shihan - 8 Dan
Congratulations to Nobuo Takase Shihan on being promoted to 8th dan at the Hombu Dojo Kagami Biraki Ceremony this evening. This remarkable achievement is a testament to his unwavering dedication, exceptional skill, and lifelong commitment to the art of Aikido. We are all immensely proud and inspired by his success.

Takase Shihan established Aikido Shinryukan in 1969, which is celebrating it’s 55th Annual Gasshuku in 2025, and has been a pillar of Aikido excellence, fostering a community devoted to the discipline. Under Takase Shihan’s leadership, the organisation has flourished, renowned for its rigorous training and emphasis on both physical and mental development. His recognition at Hombu Dojo underscores the significant impact he has made and the high standards upheld by Shinryukan.

In 2020 Takase Shihan was awarded The Order of the Rising Sun (旭日章) at a ceremony at the Japanese Consulate in Auckland. The Order of the Rising Sun is awarded to those who have made distinguished achievements in international relations, promotion of Japanese culture, and advancements in their field. This accolade further exemplifies Takase Shihan’s outstanding contributions to Aikido and Japanese culture in New Zealand and around the world.

We look forward to many more years of Takase Shihan’s exemplary teaching and inspiration as he continues to guide and motivate students globally. Once again, congratulations to Takase Shihan on this outstanding honour and we are all proud to call him our “sensei”.
